My name is Zan Dominick, and I am pleased to be the law clerk co-op student at Daniel & Partners LLP for 2017.
I grew up in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario and attended Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharines. My previous education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Brock University obtained in 2014. Currently I am enrolled at Niagara College in the Law Clerk program, graduating in June 2018.
Along with my academic focus, I am passionate about volunteering and have held several leadership roles in my various extra-curricular activities. My volunteering experience has included Rotary International, Community Care of St. Catharines as well as Big Brothers Big Sisters, and during my time at Brock University I was the Chair of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee of St. Catharines. In this role I worked with students from almost every high school in St. Catharines to organize youth events/fundraisers, discuss issues that are currently affecting youth in Niagara and advising City Council on these issues.
As the current Class Representative for the Niagara College Law Clerk program, I attend monthly meetings with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council to advise them on student concerns, and attend quarterly Program Committee meetings with faculty members and board members to deliver feedback about the curriculum.
Upon starting at Niagara College I was selected to be a member of the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership Squad, a student volunteer group committed to engaging with students on a regular basis to educate them about the services available to them on campus. I would commit to several hours a week assisting with school/department events and promoting campus initiatives such as our Get Involved week. I was also participated in the Leadership Exploration and Development Program, an exclusive workshop program designed for students who exemplify leadership in their school community through student engagement and volunteering.
In February 2017, I was grateful to be nominated for an award at the annual Niagara College Volunteer and Leadership Awards to highlight my achievements this year with the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership.
The privilege of obtaining a legal education and having a rewarding legal career has always been a genuine desire of mine, and my future education plans are to attend law school in September 2018. This year I am grateful for the opportunity Daniel & Partners LLP has given me to start my legal career by applying the legal knowledge and skills I have gained during my studies in a real-world setting.
A beautiful tribute Joseph! Gino would be honoured for his well deserved remembrance.
