My name is Alexander Hobbs. I am 22 years old and grew up in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario. I recently completed my first year of the J.D./M.A. Common Law program between the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs with a master’s specialization in international economic policy, and am currently a founding member of the Ottawa chapter of the International Commission of Jurists. Last year I was an intern at Daniel and Partners LLP through the final year of my undergraduate degree with honours in political science at Brock University, and am now a summer student at the firm. During my time at Brock University I was the Research and Policy Coordinator for the students’ union, represented students on their students’ council, and at the department level as student representative to the political science department. I also founded and led a model United Nations team which competed in New York at the United Nations sponsored NMUN event against hundreds of other teams from around the world. Our team won Brock University an international distinction within the Great Hall of the United Nations. I have written and oral advocacy experience not just at the NMUN event, but also through Ottawa’s moot competition, and my time advocating on behalf of students to the Provincial and Federal governments through the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations. I am excited to be back at an amazing firm in an awesome region.
