My name is Derek Yaromich and I am very excited to begin my summer work term at Daniel & Partners LLP.
I was born in Hamilton and raised on a farm in Grassie. I attended Brock University where I completed a combined major in Political Science and History. During my undergrad, I competed in snowboardcross racing and became very involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln.
In September 2018, I began the Juris Doctor (JD) program at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, where I have been involved with the school’s Pro Bono Students Canada chapter. My yearlong project involved working with a local radio station where our team documented and discussed the developing laws following the legalization of marijuana. In early October I joined the student caucus where I sat on the Parking Appeals and Advisory Committee. I was responsible for overhearing parking ticket and towing appeals as well as representing the student body’s voice with their concerns involving parking infrastructure and public transit developments. In November, I participated in the annual Calgary law school rugby tournament where I played lock and prop. Although we did not win the tournament, I had a great time and am looking forward to playing this coming school year.
I look forward to learning a great deal and meeting some fantastic people this summer as I begin my work term at Daniel & Partners LLP.
