Welcome to the firm, David!

20201112 134034 - Daniel & Partners

David Butler has joined our firm as an articling student.  Welcome to the firm, David!

Former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said “if you’re going to be a lawyer & just practice your profession, you have a skill—very much like a plumber. But if you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself, something that makes life…better for people less fortunate…”

As an articling student, I plan to continue to learn and achieve greater heights that I can be proud of, that my family can be proud of and that Daniel & Partners LLP can be proud of. During the upcoming months, I will endeavor to make every moment count as I plan for my future legal career.

I am a recent Master of Laws graduate from Cardozo School of Law in New York City where I received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. My area of concentration was in media & entertainment law. In October I sat for the NY Bar exam.

My academic background includes a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from the University of Kent in England where I achieved First-Class Honors. Subsequently, I obtained a Certificate of Qualification from The National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. I also graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Master of Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology from the University of Waterloo. I was the recipient of the Jeff Mills Memorial Cup, an award recognizing outstanding academics, athletics, leadership, and community involvement. I am fluent in French and English.

Prior to entering law school, I successfully led start-ups from concept to financing to existence to survival to growth to success. I was featured in PROFIT magazine for launching an innovative, environmentally friendly Quebec-based start-up. I also played professional hockey in North America and Germany.

Today, in my spare time, my favourite activities include attending performances at the Shaw Festival (pre-covid) and playing sponge puck hockey for Team Yellow in Niagara on the Lake’s shinny league where our team remains undefeated for more than a decade.
