Sarah Draper Adjudicates at Mock Trial
Sarah Draper, one of the partners at Daniel & Partners LLP, acted as a judge for a mock trial held in the Ontario Court of Justice here in St. Catharines on Wednesday, May 1st,2018.
The event was put on by the Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN). OJEN is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization which develops educational tools to introduce young people to the justice system and help them understand the law.
Teams of high school students took on the roles of prosecution and defence, as well as acting as the accused and witnesses. Each team also had a local lawyer acting as their mentor.
Participants included teams from Saint Paul High School and A.N. Meyer Secondary School in Niagara Falls, E.L. Crossley Secondary School in Pelham, Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Grimsby, with the winning team coming from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in St. Catharines.
